RMIT Alumni take part in Run for the Kids

Got to the event around 8:30am in readiness for a 9:00am start for the long course. 30,000 people headed out for a great cause – the kids at the Royal Childrens Hospital.

The weather was warm even then and got warmer as the morning progressed. Nice day for a picnic but a little hot for a fun run!

There was a delay to the start of 20 minutes so off we went at 9:20am.

It’s a strange feeling running through a tunnel usually only meant for cars and trucks but we managed to navigate the Burnley tunnel which has a big dip down to go into the tunnel and then a gradual climb up to go out the other end. And it is long…..

Then it was onto the flat and expanse of the West Gate Freeway for 3km to the Bolte Bridge loop. This was around the 6km mark….only 8km to go!

Saw a Citilink sign saying, “welcome to Citilink and the Bolte Bridge…enjoy the view”. Having started the quite steep climb...[more info]
